Our story

The Living Collective began with a move, and with six long weeks in a hotel room.

How it began

Our founder’s family was moving from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. The new house was still being built, and the old one had already been sold.

They needed somewhere to live for a few weeks. A short lease was hard to find, and so was a furnished home. In the end a family of four lived in one hotel room for six weeks.

Out of that came a simple idea. People who are between homes, or here for work, should be able to rent a whole house with the same care they would get at a good hotel. The Living Collective opened in 2018.

Our name gives us our initials, TLC, and we take them to heart. We look after each home with tender loving care and a close eye for detail. As we like to say, everyone deserves a little TLC.

Every short stay home is ready to live in, with a kitchen, made beds, towels and toiletries.

Our team cleans short stay homes every day.

Calm
We have a no party rule at all of our homes.

Flexible
Book a night, a week or a month. Our furnished flats let from three months at a time, and our unfurnished flats on a twelve month lease.
