Moving to Hilton, working here for a while, or waiting for your own house to be ready? You can rent one of our furnished Hilton houses for a few weeks or a few months.
How this started
The Living Collective began with a move. Our founder moved a family of four from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. Their new house was still being built, and their old one was already sold.
They could find no short lease on a furnished home, so the family lived in one hotel room for six weeks. The Living Collective started in 2018 so that people in the same spot could have a real home, with the care of a good hotel.
The houses you can rent
Unit 5 at The Gates has four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and underfloor heating. In the same estate, Unit 6 has three bedrooms. Both are next to Hilton College.
Garlington House has four bedrooms, two lounges and a fireplace. The Villa at 9 Azalea Drive has five bedrooms in the village centre, with a two bedroom cottage in the garden.
Renting by the month
The rates on this site are nightly rates. For a stay of a month or more, ask us for a monthly rate. Tell us which house you like, when you want to move in and how long you need it.
We will reply with what is free and what it costs. The houses come fully furnished, with a kitchen, beds and towels, so you can move in with a suitcase.
If you want an empty home
Some people would like to bring their own furniture. We let unfurnished two bedroom apartments in Pelham, Pietermaritzburg, on a twelve month lease.
Why people choose Hilton
Hilton sits higher than Pietermaritzburg, so the summers are cooler. The village has good schools and a private hospital. Its centre has shops and cafés.
The N3 runs past the village, so the drive to Durban is a little over an hour. Pietermaritzburg City Hall is about 13 km away.

Can I rent a furnished house in Hilton for three months?
Yes. Send us a request with your move in date and how long you need the house. We will tell you which of our Hilton houses is free and quote a monthly rate.
Are your Hilton houses furnished?

What comes with a furnished house?
Furniture in every room, a fully equipped kitchen, made beds, towels and toiletries. The houses in the estates are cleaned every day on short stays. Ask us how cleaning works on a monthly rental.
